To find new ways and forms to present the works of William Shakespeare, both on the dramatic stage and in the school-room, that will excite and inspire those new to the Bard’s work, whilst simultaneously satisfying the expectations of those already familiar with his work. To establish a committed ensemble of performers, artists, and artisans in a laboratory environment, within which to explore any and all themes, forms, or structures that may be deemed necessary for the successful realisation of the objectives. To produce abridged productions of all thirty-seven of Shakespeare’s plays in styles of performance, both visually and physically, that youthful and contemporary audiences can identify with and assimilate easily. To create and perform prequels and sequels to selected Shakespeare works, or elements of those works, in a contemporary context, which would enable an audience to gain a better understanding of Shakespeare’s original work, and/or related works. Those interested in becoming actively involved in this undertaking and to share their ideas and efforts shall be warmly welcomed. The Ensemble offers a free Diligent Actors Workshop every Saturday from 10am to 2pm at the Menara Duta studio. E-Mail A dramatisation of Omar Khayyam's renowned 11th century philosophical work, as translated and adapted by Edward Fitzgerald and E.H.Whinfield, adapted for the stage by Chris Jacobs. Finding a theatrical-form to carry, and do justice to this beautiful and monumental philosophical work has been a dominant passion of mine for many years. By blending Meyerholdian philosophies with Odissi, Kathakali, Noh, Chinese Opera and other Oriental forms, perhaps we have found such a form ? something new which is visually and audably exciting and yet touches audiences on a deeply emotional level. A new adaptation of Edgar Alan Poe's classic horror story which is being developed as an Ensemble production. |
